Since 1987, the Hartfield family has poured heart and soul into every acre, every seed, and every harvest. This is our story.
It all began with 40 acres and an unwavering belief that food should be grown the way nature intended. Thomas and Mary Hartfield left their city lives behind to build something real, something rooted.
With little more than calloused hands and a dog-eared almanac, they turned fallow fields into a thriving organic farm. Neighbors thought they were dreamers. They were right, but the dream was worth chasing.
Today, under the care of the third generation, Harvest & Hearth has grown to over 200 acres of certified organic farmland. But some things never change: every tomato is still hand-picked, every egg is gathered at dawn, and every customer is treated like family.
We have expanded our reach, but never our shortcuts. We grow slowly, sustainably, and with deep gratitude for the soil beneath our feet and the families who trust us with their tables.
Thomas & Mary Hartfield purchase their first 40 acres and plant the first organic seeds.
After years of natural farming, we earn our official USDA Organic certification.
We open our on-site farm market, welcoming the community to shop directly at the source.
Sarah & James Hartfield take the reins, bringing new energy and expanded product lines.
We bring the farm to your doorstep with same-day delivery and our online storefront.
Every decision we make considers the health of our soil, water, and the world our grandchildren will inherit. We farm in harmony with nature, not against it.
We invite you to visit anytime. We share our practices openly because we believe you deserve to know exactly where your food comes from and how it is grown.
We source locally, hire locally, and give back locally. From school garden programs to food bank donations, this community is our family.
No pesticides, no GMOs, no shortcuts. Our produce may not always look perfect, but it always tastes extraordinary and is safe for your family.
We are not just farmers; we are feeders of families. Every product carries the care and attention of someone who genuinely loves what they do.
We don't just sustain, we regenerate. Our cover cropping and composting programs actively improve soil health for generations to come.
We rotate crops across fields each season to maintain soil fertility, prevent disease, and reduce the need for any external inputs.
Between harvests, we plant clover and rye to protect the soil, fix nitrogen naturally, and provide habitat for beneficial insects.
All farm waste is composted on-site and returned to the fields, creating a closed-loop system that enriches our soil year after year.
Drip irrigation, rainwater harvesting, and mulching ensure every drop counts. We use 60% less water than conventional farms.
